Neale Donald Walch, "The Secret" and Conversations with God

Neale Donald Walsch is probably considered one of the most controversal authors of recent years with his revolutionary views of life and God. Personally, I think that's a wonderful thing. There's nothing better than a little controversy to get people talking and the more people talk, the more the word spreads, and in doing so, one day reached me. I am very grateful for this.

Whether you've read the Conversations with God books or not, you've probably heard of them. And just as they got everybody talking, they also get you thinking. It's not that you have to accept everything in them, but they provide a wonderful alternative to the God that has been portrayed throughout the ages, a God that is kind, a God that loves us and above all, a God that created us in his own image, and gifted us with the power of creation.

I was thrilled to see Neale Donald Walsch featured as one of the teachers on The Secret. His first book Conversations with God, Book One, deals with the principle of Be/Do/Have. In other words Be as you would if you had what you wanted, Do as you would if you had what you wanted and lastly, you will Have what you want. This is the Law of Attraction as taught in The Secret.

The Conversations with God books came out many years before The Secret and for years have provided millions of people with hope and the ability to live consciously. Positve thinking is one thing, but by taking control of your life, by being pro-active instead of reactive, and being aware of what you are thinking, doing saying, how you are treating others, and by being grateful for what you have and consciously relating to others around you in a non-judgemental way, can only make the world a better place.

If so many people are now consciously living this way and feeling the benefits, then it works, and to me it is in this working you create and indulge in your own conversation with God.

I believe I am a spirtual being, on a short visit to earth by choice, in a body of my choosing, born within a family of my choosing. If I believe this, then I have to believe that if I am capable of such a choice and a creation, that my creative powers didn't end upon my arrival on earth. Perhaps I just became distracted with the physical and for a short time forgot who I really was.

With thanks to Neale Donald Walsch, who is just a simple person like me, who has suffered more than me but overcome extreme adversity and was not forsaken by God, I have a better understanding of who I am and now wake up each day, living consciously.

“Every decision you make—every decision—is not a decision about what to do. It’s a decision about Who You Are. When you see this, when you understand it, everything changes. You begin to see life in a new way. All events, occurrences, and situations turn into opportunities to do what you came here to do.”
-Neale Donald Walsch

“A life lived of choice is a life of conscious action. A life lived of chance is a life of unconscious creation.”
-Neale Donald Walsch
